Therapy with Little Kids

course

6 ce credits | SELF-STUDY | ON-DEMAND

Working with kids can feel chaotic and disorganized at times, and it can become overwhelming if we don’t have a clear plan.

Parents of children experiencing behavioral or emotional issues are often in distress and can seem to put a lot of pressure on the therapist to fix the problem. All of these factors can add up to difficult, draining, and often ineffective sessions.

When working with young children, it’s important that caregivers are part of the treatment process. But when parents are stressed out, they can seem demanding and even tempt the therapist to violate their own boundaries in an effort to help them.

Therapy with Little Kids
Learning Objectives:

“The case conceptualization method in this training was so helpful in being able to organize and outline the necessary steps to not only get a full picture of the patient you are working with but also how to communicate with parents about the factors contributing to a child’s distress and presenting symptoms. I found the material to be clear, concise, and engaging. I could listen to Laura discuss these topics all day!”

“The Training was great. It allowed me to understand how to better understand my clients and their needs. It allowed me to gain perspective on the parent and child relationship. I feel equipped to use the tools to guide me. It was direct and to the point, while allowing me to understand the why behind each point. I see a clear correlation with the guide and quick reference that will allow me to prepare and better support my clients.”

"I attended a training on The Window of Tolerance with Laura and I walked away with so much information in a short amount of time. Before the training I knew very little about the concept of the Window of Tolerance. The following week after the training I was able to utilize parts of what I learned to help a client better understand the concept of finding their window of tolerance. If you are ever able to attend any training Laura does, I highly recommend you do!"
